LIP CREAM - Kill the IBM cassette 1985

Ahhhhh, the mighty LIP CREAM………………….FUCKING RIGHT!!!! (’nuff said)

ps: This isn’t the original cover (it’s from a boot) but cool none the less. I’ve never actually seen a proper cover for it and I’m not sure it had one. This is one of my most cherished tapes and LIP CREAM is my absolute favorite Japanese band. For some reason, this cassette is not as readily available as the rest of their releases. It was bootlegged 3-4 years ago in LP form with a bunch of extra (7″s and comp trax) stuff. All LIP CREAM releases rule and if you don’t dig em’, yer an EMO lovin’ sissy boy (or girl). Check HERE or HERE for more info.

well, this sleeve is part of the original package. its the standard “J-Card” part of it. it actually accompanies a full 7″ fold-out sleeve that the original cassette was packaged with. GREAT STUFF!!! why didnt you post the live B-side? the studio stuff is only 1/2 of the entire thing…

Wedge, Thanks for the info on the packaging. Makes perfect sense that this jpeg of the cover was from PILL(sha) website. The copy of this I got many years ago was a completely black(no labels)cassette in a standard clear case with a lip cream logo (hand/rocket) sticker on the case. Inside, it had a folded 1/2 sheet of paper with a black and white picture of the band, song titles and if I remeber correctly, lyrics in Japanese. The tape was really short, with half the songs one side and half on the other. My copy didn’t (unfortunately !)contain any live material. I assumed it was an ORIGINAL demo. Some years later I got a tape of some really good quality live stuff from the same time frame as the first 7″ and “kill the…” tape. I found out that the original tape contained live material but never knew if the 2 tapes I had went together. I had serious reservations about posting this tape minus the live stuff but, the studio tracks kick so much ass, I just had to.

What are the chances of getting a song list of the live material from you and I’ll see if it matches what I have and I’ll u/l it and add it to the post. If it isn’t the right material, maybe you could upload it and our ever so kind moderator could add it. Either way, lets give the people what they deserve, a serious ass-wuppin’ from the mighty LIP CREAM.

This is what I love about cassettes………………………

Excellent shit mate and good sound quality too. Thanks very much. I for one am eagerly awaiting more revelations regarding the mysteries of the punk rock orient.

Well I don’t have the original cassette, but on the sleeve to the Kill The IBM boot LP there’s a song attributed to the tape that’s not included here. Its called City in The Cold (Born to Lose). I don’t know if this is a single track or an entire live set (I don’t have the LP just a pic). Hope this info helps…

i do have the “kill the ibm” boot LP, but honestly haven’t listened to it since i got it cause my record player bit-it… i have this on cdr somewhere, but listening to this again (from the tape) is so much fun. great punk rock, these guys know how to get it DONE. one of the best from japan for sure.

ok Surley, ill dig out the cassette this weekend & get ya a track list. the quality on it is quite good, but its definately an “air” source, not soundboard. but, then again, i have TONS of Japanese live tapes that are obviously just a portable cassette deck set in the back of the room, & they sound better & clearer that most proper “soundboard” live tapes ive heard…a true testament to the top-notch PA System in a Japanese “Live House”…would like to post a few of them, but since they would DEFINATELY be sourced as bootlegs directly after posting, im gonna hold off…lots of uncirculated stuff like Systema 83 & 87, gism 82 & 83, lip cream 84 & 85, mink oil 87 & 88,etc…

  7. wedge Says:

and, oh yeah, “City Is In Cold” is also part of the original cassette at the end of side A, which is then followed by a Mikey Dread(??) dub/reggae track until the actual tape runs out…flip it over, and the live destruction starts…
